Welcome Beta Testers.

Here at Unthirsty Headquarters, we've been working hard to make some key breakthroughs in Happy Hour technology. Using our vast array of power-ups and special moves, I think we've come up with just the thing to take it to the next level.

As a beta-tester you get a sneak peek behind the curtain and we ask you to come in and do your best to break it up; add happy hours, leave comments, sign up for accounts and do everything you can find. We have lots of toys to play with, and we want you to try them all.

To get started, we recommend you create a user account.

The user accounts are the biggest difference between the old Unthirsty and Level 2. With these you'll be able to add and edit happy hours, and get notified when new happy hours are added in your area. You'll also be able to upload photos so people can see what your local haunt looks like.

With the accounts, we also suggest marking your favorite happy hours. Then you'll be able to view a quickly filtered map of just the best places, as well as see who else favorited it (not sure favorited is a word, but you know what I mean), which might introduce you to some new places as well (by seeing who else has impeccable nacho snobbery like you).

We plan on doing some fun contests and giveaways for our most active users who are adding, editing and rating locations, making your efforts on cataloguing happy hours a bit sweeter.

You can read all about our different sections in our Help page, so check there if something doesn't make sense.

Most importantly, we want your feedback on the new site so we can make it better! Since you were interested enough in the site to sign up for a beta account, we hope you will provide us with as much feedback as possible on your experience using Level 2. We will be posting updates on our Unthirsty Blog, so leave your feedback there and everyone can be involved in the discussion.

Thanks a lot for being part of the community, and good luck!

Love,
The Unthirsty Team (Matt, Jason and Geoffrey)

PS. This is a shameless plug to ask you to enter some bars as part of the 'learning' process for Unthirsty Level 2. We are desperate for new bars the way a cheeseburger is desperate for bacon. There's never enough bacon, and we can never have enough bars. As our trusty band of
merry drinksters, please do your part to add as many bars as possible during this Beta test. The more we all add, the more we all benefit. Also, I'm willing to bet the tab that there'll be a little reward for the beta tester who enters the most content during the next two weeks.

PPS. We at Unthirsty are not responsible for your liver nor your cholesterol level, and can take no responsibility for whatever you do with the knowledge gained within the site. However, we highly recommend you telling us all about your tomfoolery and ballyhoo.

PPPS. We're still working on some design elements. We do that stuff last. First and foremost is Happy Hour technology, second, making it purty. Expect some visual changes in the coming weeks. If you love it, let us know. If you don't, bugger off, nobody asked you. Cheers!

I have some ideas for improving the site...
(1) How about a button or option for bar owners to upload a PDF of the happy hour memu?
(2) I would get rid of the drop down categories for the comments. The categories don't show up anywhere, you can't sort by them, and I found it confusing the first time. My comments for each place usually include some or all of the categories.
(3) How about a big ol' Beta Tester Button somewhere so we can leave our suggestions, gripes, kudos somewhere other than in the blog comments?
(4) Options for the default address once you login (i.e. home, work, school, etc).
(5) How about making Flikr an option in the Add Photo tab? Flikr roll on the blog? People could tag their photos with "unthirsty"?

Oh yeah...and more default avatars! They are SO CUTE! How about a lime wedge or a lemon twist?

Any chance of expanding beyond the US? I've stared my own one for my locals http://bathurstpubs.com

How's this over 26 water holes in a country town.

@mountainash: Unthirsty will probably work in AU...have you tried adding one?
