How to use Unthirsty.com to find happy hours

Unthirsty.com is a happy hour finder. Plug in your desired location and you'll be richly rewarded with a map of nearby restaurants and bars that have happy hours. The site was launched in Portland, OR, but it can be employed anywhere that Google Maps turns its all-seeing eye. Enthusiastic drinkers such as you and me are responsible for keeping Unthirsty.com at the forefront of happy hour information technology. If you see a happy hour that isn't listed, do your fellow man a service and enter it. Additionally, the system thrives on your comments and star ratings, so feel free to take the initiative and share yourself (or your thoughts) with the community.

The easiest way to find your personalized happy hour is to enter your zip code into the address bar; you can also enter an exact address, or a city and state. The map will then center on your area and highlight the nearest Houses of Happy. Don't see any bars? Well, my friends, this is your chance to contribute — but for the love of Jim Beam please keep them specific to places with happy hour!

If you're feeling all persnickety you can demand that Unthirsty.com only show happy hours that fit your specific criteria: food specials, drink specials, WiFi, non-smoking, all-ages, and places that have outdoor seating. And if you have an immediate hankering for the Big Happy, you can also specify happy hours that are going on right now. But what about if you need to find a happy hour on Tuesday at 6:30pm, and it's Monday, well, enter in that specific time and you'll get what you ask for, so be careful.

Once you find a bar to suit your fancy, click on the "Detail" link to pull up a page with all that bar's essential stats. You'll find a time grid showing when happy hour is offered, the exact address and phone number, a URL if they're savvy enough to have a website, and a special little section at the bottom for you to rate the bar and leave your comments and critiques. You can add it as a favorite for easier surfing later, or see who else likes this bar.

User Accounts:

Hey fancy pants, so you want to be official and get special treatment? Well, signup and get yourself an account. From there you can get notifications when new locations are added in your area. You can mark things as favorites, and quickly dismiss all but those you find particularly worthy. You can have an AVATAR (one of ours or one of your choosing), and finally get credit for all the work you've been doing adding bars and making comments.

Mistakes:

If you see something that is incorrect you can choose to edit that location (you must be logged in to edit, though). Once you're done, a notice will be sent to an editor who then can approve or deny the changes (we have to watch out for bar pirates, they're sneaky and not to be trusted). But don't let that stop you from correcting those untruths of bar-dom, nothing's worse than thinking you're getting a bargain and getting full-price.

Adding Locations:

If you don't see any happy hours in your area, what's stopping you from becoming a contributor? Unthirsty.com can only flourish with your help. The team has already heavily infiltrated Portland, Seattle, New York, San Francisco, and a few other cities, but we need help from happy hour spies across the US to make every city detailed. Join our community and add a happy hour now!

Feedback

If something is downright broked, or if you think of a feature that we don't already offer, let us know. But we're ready to bet a happy hour priced generic beer that we've already thought of it, and are putting off its release in order to make your head asplode.

Thanks for visiting Unthirsty.com and good luck.
